When you upload a photo, it is loaded directly into your browser's memory, processed there using standard image-processing operations (resizing, cropping, filters, format conversion), and then offered back to you as a downloadable file. At no point does the image data get uploaded to any server we control — you can confirm this yourself by checking your browser's network activity while using any tool. This is different from many other "free online" photo tools which upload your file to a remote server for processing.
